Landmannalaugar
This super-truck excursion heads east through the southern lowlands, before climbing through the spectacular Thjorsar Valley into the brooding volcanic landscape of Iceland’s highland interior.
Crossing rugged lava fields, unbridged mountain rivers and sprawling arctic deserts, we reach Landmannalaugar, a landscape of sweeping mountains and hot and cold springs which mix together to create the ideal setting for a relaxing swim or bracing walk. Leaving this natural oasis, we head for the slopes of Hekla, Iceland’s most active volcano, before beginning our journey back to Reykjavik.
