Fire and Ice
Adventure Tour
3 Days
This 3 days adventure tour
is perfect in the wintertime to observe the Northern Lights in Iceland.
The Northern lights or the aurora borealis is entering the most spectacular phase of its 11-year cycle. For the next 3 years the aurora borealis should be exceptional and the time to go for them, is now.
What is aurora borealis … a natural light display in the sky, particularly in the Polar Regions, caused by the collision of charged particles directed by the Earth's magnetic field. The phenomenon is best seen at cold, clear nights.
In this incredibly adventurous tour for three days you will have the opportunity to experience many of the most exciting places in Iceland and the northern lights if the weather conditions are right. Our schedule is based on weather and road conditions, but the itinerary could be like this:
DAY ONE
We head out of Reykjavik driving southeast through the towns of Hveragerdi and to the volcanic eruption area at Mt.Eyjafjallajökull on the south coast. When we get there, the itinerary of the day depends on the current circumstances in the area. We will use the Super Jeeps to get you as close the eruption spot as possibly allowed for security reasons. This might include crossing over glacier rivers and rough terrain, but you will surely feel the power of nature from different angles.
-Overnight in a local hotel, guesthouse, mountain hut or in tents.

DAY TWO
We continue to explore the volcanic area on the south coast in our Super Jeep. Possible destinations for this day could be the green valley of Thorsmork, the famous volcano Mt..Hekla and the small towns of Hvolsvollur and Hella. Cruising down the black, sandy beaches of the area in the Super Jeeps is always exhilirating. Other optional activities of the day could include Helicopter flight over the volcano and surrounding area, snowmobiling and horseback riding.
-Overnight in a local hotel, guesthouse, mountain hut or in tents.
DAY THREE
Leaving this volcanic area, we drive to Geysir, the most famous hot spring in the world. From there we continue to Gullfoss, one of Iceland´s most spectacular waterfalls.
From Gullfoss there is only 40 minutes drive to Langjökull glacier, Iceland‘s second largest glacier. There we will have the option to go snowmobiling and visiting an ice-cave.
In the afternoon we head to Thingvellir National Park; home of the nation's parliament from 930 - 1798, it has frequently provided provided the setting for some its most historic events, and continues to do so today. From Thingvellir we continue directly back to our hotel in Reykjavík city.
Flexible schedule.
